Last year I found I had some pretty pink mix yarn, Patons Smoothie DK, and I made myself a summer weight wrap with it from a new pattern book I had. I was desperate to make something from this book and still being a beginner, I wanted something relatively simple, plus I only had 3 balls of this yarn.
However, I have never been very pleased with the wrap, it wasn’t quite right but I don’t know why. I wore it once but then it got put aside and for a while now I’ve been thinking about undoing it and making something else.
Having only one WIP (Work In Progress) at the moment and one that I tire of, I needed to find something else to do, so a couple of evenings ago I sat and undid the wrap.
The next day after taking my son to school, he’s Year 6 so has returned to school now, I got the yarn out and sat looking at what I could make with it, my daughter spotted it, “Oooooo, I like that” she says, “Oh, do you now!” was my reply and she went on to tell me how much she really, really liked it.
So, typically the yarn is now a WIP for her, another poncho ! She asked for the same pattern that I have recently made for my mom and sister, the Fall Boho Poncho and I”m hoping that being a much smaller size, I should just have enough!!!
I love the colours in this yarn, however, it does separate easily and I often hook a few strands and not

all of them. I made a shawl last year in the blue mix for a friend who was emigrating to Spain, I thought it would be nice for her to wrap around herself on cooler evenings and remember her friends back home and know they are thinking of her too.
The recent poncho I made for my mom and sister, was made with a different yarn, Rico Creative Melange DK, Mom’s was in Pastel Mix and sister's in Natural Mix. This is a beautiful yarn and the colours of the Pastel Mix are gorgeous. This yarn has wool in it but is still very light and lovely for a summer cover up on a cooler evening.

I now have my 4 squares made for my daughter, so onto the next part of attaching them together and finishing off. So it looks like I’ll have to buy some more for something for me now and I’ll have to watch out for my little Yarn Stealer in the future !
